Jacob Otterbach, son of Hermann, went to war from 1776-1783. His obituary in Kentucky in 1842 when he was 99 calls him 'a gallant soldier of the Revolution'. He went home without receiving his discharge papers, as many did at that time, so those will not be found.
ReplyDeleteHe migrated with a lot of his family to Kentucky, arriving on Dec. 3, 1797. He lived in Woodford County on Clear Creek. His second wife was Quency Hanks, a close relative of Nancy Hanks Lincoln.

ReplyDeleteThe info about Jacob's Revolutionary War experience is correct, but I think I got his father wrong, as I was writing off the top of my head. Jacob was born in Virginia in 1743, Hermann was probably his grandfather and his father was Johannes.
